In the field of NPK fertilizer production, the disc granulator is a widely used and favored granulation equipment.

The structure of the disc granulator is relatively simple but unique. It mainly consists of a tilted circular plate, a driving device, and a spraying system. The circular plate is the core area of granulation, usually made of high-strength steel to ensure that it can withstand various forces during the granulation process. The driving device provides stable rotational power to the disc, ensuring that it rotates at an appropriate speed.

Its working principle is based on the motion and interaction of materials within a rotating disk. When the mixed NPK fertilizer raw materials are fed into a rotating disk, due to the tilt angle and rotational motion of the disk, the material rolls upward along the inner wall of the disk under the combined action of centrifugal force, friction force, and gravity. During the rolling process, the spraying system will timely spray adhesive onto the material. Adhesive is like "glue", gradually bonding loose raw material particles together, causing them to continuously aggregate and grow. Over time, these agglomerated particles continue to roll and collide within the disc, further compacting and shaping, ultimately forming circular particles of relatively uniform size, rolling down from the edge of the disc and completing the granulation process.

The disc granulator has many advantages. Firstly, the fertilizer particles it produces have high roundness and good appearance quality, which makes it highly competitive in the market. Secondly, the operation of the granulator is relatively simple and easy to master, with low technical requirements for the operators. Moreover, the disc granulator has strong adaptability and can produce fertilizer particles of different sizes by adjusting parameters such as disc speed, tilt angle, and binder spraying amount according to different production needs, meeting diverse market demands.

However, the disc granulator also has some limitations. For example, its production efficiency may be relatively low compared to some large granulation equipment, making it less suitable for large-scale industrial production. In addition, when dealing with highly viscous raw materials, there may be a phenomenon of material sticking to the disc, which affects the granulation effect and the normal operation of the equipment. However, with its unique advantages, the disc granulator still plays an important role in small and medium-sized enterprises in NPK fertilizer production and production scenarios with high requirements for the appearance of fertilizer particles.
