Application of roller extrusion granulator in fertilizer processing equipment

2025/04/23

In the field of fertilizer production, the roller extrusion granulator, with its unique working mode, has become a powerful equipment for processing fertilizers, efficiently and accurately converting various raw materials into high-quality fertilizer particles.

The operation of the roller extrusion granulator starts from the raw material preparation stage. Firstly, it is necessary to thoroughly mix various raw materials required for fertilizer production, such as basic fertilizers such as nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and other additives, according to precise formulas. These mixed raw materials should have appropriate humidity and particle size to ensure the smooth progress of the subsequent granulation process.

Entering the granulation process, the mixed raw materials are transported to the feed inlet of the roller extrusion granulator. The core components of the machine are a pair of rollers that rotate in opposite directions, and the surface of the rollers is engraved with grooves that are precisely designed in shape and size. The raw materials are pushed into the gap between two rollers by gravity and the feeding device. As the roller rotates, a strong squeezing force is applied to the raw material. Under this high pressure, the raw material is filled into the grooves on the surface of the roller and squeezed into blocks that match the shape of the grooves. These blocks are tightly combined and have a certain strength.

Subsequently, the block shaped material extruded from the gap between the rollers enters the crushing and screening stage. The block material is first subjected to preliminary crushing by a crusher, making it into particles of relatively uniform size. Subsequently, these particles are transported to the screening equipment and screened through different aperture screens to select qualified fertilizer particles. Oversized or undersized particles that do not meet the particle size requirements will be separated. Oversized particles will return to the crusher for further crushing, while undersized particles will return to the feed inlet to participate in a new round of granulation process, ensuring that the particle size of the final product meets the standards.

The fertilizer granules produced through the above steps still need to undergo the final post-treatment process. These particles may need to be dried to remove excess moisture for storage and transportation. Afterwards, surface treatments such as coating may be carried out to add a protective film to the fertilizer particles, delaying nutrient release and improving fertilizer utilization efficiency.

The roller extrusion granulator processes various fertilizer raw materials into reliable and uniformly sized fertilizer products through a series of rigorous and efficient processes, meeting the demand for different types of fertilizers in agricultural production and playing an important role in ensuring grain yield and sustainable agricultural development.
